Shane Roller’s UFC Debut

Fresh off an impressive first round submission over former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner, Shane Roller now has his first date inside the UFC’s Octagon.

Roller will meet nine time UFC veteran Thiago Tavares at the UFC on Versus 3 event on March 3.

Roller went 6-2 in eight fights in the WEC, losing only to the two men that fought in the final WEC fight ever, Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis. The loss to Pettis came in August of this year, and the victory over Varner was his first bout since then.

Tavares returned to action this January after a year long layoff, but went to a disappointing draw with Nik Lentz at UFC Fight Night 20. However, he bounced back with a win over newcomer Pat Audinwood in September at UFC 119. He’s 5-3-1 overall in his UFC career.

UFC on Versus 3 is will take place from the KFC YUM! Center in  Louisville, KY. headlined by a welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
